Stop slapping yourself!

Remember that scene in Bridesmaids, when Megan took Annie’s hands and made her hit herself repeatedly while yelling “stop slapping yourself, stop slapping yourself?” Megan continued on and on until finally, Annie sparks up enough anger and courage to finally fight back.

Well just imagine that Megan is ‘life,’ and life kept hitting you- repeatedly. But in reality, you’re just letting life get to you.

How long are you going to let life hit you until you decide to hit back?

No one feels sorry for you. In fact, they are probably more than happy that you’re in the same spot as they are, worse maybe. They’re thrilled by the fact that you give as much effort as they do towards living, rising, and becoming the actual you that you are supposed to be. They have no problem with letting life abuse you. They may even sit and cry with you, maybe.

Back to the main point. Stop feeling sorry for yourself- get your life together- stop with the excuses and minimal effort to care about yourself and what you do.

Be the rockstar-superwoman/human that you were meant to be. Get rid of the people who don’t think much of you and surround yourselves with people that do.

Pay attention to your heroes and the people you look up to and what they are doing. Replicate it. Repeatedly. Until so much so that you’re now the one on top.

Be the writer, mom, gymnast, friend, traveler, human that you actually want to be. Be you. No one will ever be the same you with the same combinations of passions, brains, traits, etc., that are an exact match to yours.

As Dr. Seuss said,

“No one is youer than you.”

Take advantage of yourself.

In the best way possible.

Always.

The world depends on these people. Be one of them. Be you.
