happiness

Because happiness can’t wait.

Let’s get one thing straight, happiness is not something you find outside of yourself. It’s something you create and decide from within.

However, happiness can be encouraged and experienced naturally by following these recommendations below:

Get enough sleep:

Think of it like Goldilocks and the Three Bears. You don’t want too much sleep- because it makes you groggy. Nor do you want too little of rest because you won’t have enough energy. Get just the right amount for you. When your body decides it’s enough and wakes up, then get up. This is a really simple method to just keeping you feeling presently conscious by getting enough rest.

Listen/watch to something funny:

Humor doesn’t hurt the soul when it’s genuine and coming from a loving place. In the least, laughter is soul medicine. For me, I really enjoy motivational speeches, but they are even better when they are funny. So, recently I found Les Brown on YouTube and the man is badass and hilarious. His laugh alone is contagious enough. Find something funny that will put a smile on your face and let happiness take away the day.

Name five things you’re grateful for right now:

Sitting at a desk? Easy. Driving somewhere? Also easy. It doesn’t matter what you are doing, unless it’s CPR, you can name gratitude at any time of the day. Whether it’s presently; acknowledging why you love the current moment. Or whether it’s general; any thing, person, etc.,. gratitude is always the easy way to align to happiness. Here’s something easy: Recognizing the people in your life. The warm shower. The clean water. Your obstacles that have taught you your greatest lessons. Be grateful for ALL of that. Find anything and everything and smile because it’s in your life. The hardships teach the lessons. The good things are the rewards. Acknowledge both. Life is about balance.

Just decide to feel joy:

You’ve decided that you’re unhappy because of x, y, and z. Why not decide the opposite; that you are happy. Pick every day to do something that follows your inner happiness, love, and joy and just allow life to be simpler than we are making it out to be. Decide you’re going to have a great day. Month. Year. Life. Be in the moment- choose to be happy and just smile.

Do what makes you happy right now:

Bored? Sad? Confused? Not sure what to think? Whatever it is you’re doing right now- make it fun for yourself. Life is short. You deserve to be happy as often as you can help it.

Now it’s your turn. What can you take away from this?
